To Neda, it was a real delight to hear a sophisticated, intelligent, and passionate point of view on the Iranian issue. You are Iran that the United States and the rest of the west hopes we will deal with and have real and open friendship with one day. It's my hope (and I believe most Americans share my opinion) that you and your people receive the freedom and liberties you deserve. Our heart opens to you and your cause, which is certainly righteous. I believe that it is in the American interest that your side prevail and gain control of your country. Hearing your story made me feel so very fortunate to be American and have the freedoms that your people long for. Americans, in general, take these freedoms for granted while others in the world are spilling their blood for real change and for real freedom. Please do not give up the fight. We stand with you. Thanks, Turki, for the shout-out. I think you were wrong about how a Republican administration would have handled the Iranian crisis. There would have been no military buildup or show of force in this situation. The only difference would have been a more public showing of support for the protesters. I was disappointed in the lackluster support President Obama gave. Yes, it is an Iranian domestic issue, but it is certainly in the United States' interest to see the current regime topple and what better way than if the moderates in Iran can do it themselves? I view the current situation as the best opportunity in 30 years for real change in Iran. To use an American expression, we have to take the bull by the horns and lend our support where it is most needed: to support democracy and human rights throughout the world. As for Michael Jackson, it is a sad ending to a sad story. But, it is a lesson in how the cult of celebrity has grown out of control. His death, really, is not a shock. It was a train wreck waiting to happen. I also agree that Michael Jackson the Artist died a long time ago. What was left was a walking circus, which he mostly brought on himself. Great show.
