I watched Taken the other night and while it was immensely unbelieveable, it was also immensely enjoyable. Liam Neeson makes the movie, otherwise it would have been a worthless waste of of an hour and a half. I mean, it could have been anybody in the lead role--Kevin Costner, Bruce Willis, etc. Liam's got that "Don't mess with me" essence.

haha I'm not sure I would have enjoyed a big screen view of Arnies bits and pieces, since the Smurf junk in Watchmen wasn't that enjoyable either LOL But I do like to see equal opportunity for all in movies :)

And as of Episode 3, we are officially organized and have a Rental section to the show! Thanks for helping me get that segment in the show ;)

Hey Dave,

Thanks for the recommendation on Taken. When I first saw the trailer I thought it looked amazing, but then I hear a lot of folks saying they didn't enjoy the movie (one even walked out of the theater) So I've been a bit hesitant, but now I'll add that to my list of DVD rentals. Thanks!!

I saw Terminator last week with my wife. I loved it. She...didn't. She said it wasn't a bad movie though and she liked the special effects. I didn't like all the cheesy throwbacks ("I'll be back" and "Come with me if you want to live") to the old movies and I think Star Trek pulled those off much better. But, the story was good and they shot most of that movie here in New Mexico, so I was happy to support it.

I think the raging naked Arnie CGI was the worth price of admission, though I think it would've been better had they gone The Watchmen "Dr. Manhatten" route full frontal nudity route. I think my wife would've liked it more too.

Any chance of throwing in a DVD section on the podcast?

You guys bring up something in this episode that really needs to be brought up more often. Realistic fight scenes!!! I'm not saying that the scale of action needs to be realistic, but like you said "If the terminator has his victim in his hands...why though him instead of just crushing him there?!?

A great example of a movie i watched recently that has surprisingly amazing fight scenes is "Taken". It's that movie where the dad is trying to get back his kidnapped daughter that is being sold in the sex industry. If you haven't watched it, i highly encourage you to rent and watch it. It's defiantly not the best movie out there, but the fights are really good. From the way he holds a knife, to how he evaluates a situation. I would give some examples but i don't want to spoil it.

Hi Nicole, Turpster & Patrick,

The idea of the show is great, even better is having a female (US english for Turpster before he makes something out of this...) co-host for the show. Turpster is his usual self, aka super funny, and Patrick moderates all that very nicely.
As for the reviews of the movies listed, I haven't seen them all myself but I would like to make a comment on Terminator Salvation. I will start like you do for your reviews: I liked the movie. Now let me say why I was surprised to hear you had not. First, Sam Worthington was quite amazing in the movie I thought. He totally stole the show from Christian Bale in my opinion. Not that Mr Bale was particularly bad (or overplaying his deep voice...btw, I honestly did not even think about that during the movie once). He plays a believable John Connor, who tries to define his actions through the guidance of a tape left by his mother (voiced by the excellent Linda Hamilton - Terminator fans will appreciate that). Christian Bale is just on par with the movie, not great for a simple reason: the dialogs he inherited from the script are dull, dry and not developed ("a la" George Lucas imo, one of the worst dialog writer of the history of cinema). Anyways, despite that, the feel of the movie felt like a cross between Matrix and Mad Max in a Terminator setting. The result looked very impressive, from fish- and motocycle-like machines that complement the already partly seen traditional flying and giant walking robots (in T2 for instance). I love the post-apocalyptic decor of ravaged L.A.
I have not seen any other movies listed in this episode but I saw "The Hangover" this weekend and I can't wait to hear your reviews! I thought it was hilarious and one of the best comedies in years.

Long life to the show :)

I submitted it to the store about ten days ago, but sometimes these things take a while. Hopefully it won't be too long...

Edit: You can still subscribe to it manually in iTunes though: just copy the URL from the regular RSS feed (this one: http://feeds2.feedburner.com/themovielicious) and enter it in the "Advanced / Subscribe to a podcast" menu in the iTunes software.
